Laboratory and Field Proficiencies

BIO 3232 | Streak Plating Techniques
Students were given two, unknown bacterial strains. Various biochemical, plating, media, and microscopy methods were used to identify each bacterial strain.
BIO 3333 | Amphibian Diversity Sampling
A study was conducted to collect data on amphibian diversity on Winston Salem State University campus during the Fall Semester of 2017.
CHEM 2112 | Spectrophometry
Students analyzed a solution of cobalt (II) nitrate to determine absorbancy spectrum according to Beer's Law.
GEN BIO II | Gel Electrophoresis (AB TECH)
Students were given three samples of DNA obtained from bacteria. DNA fragments were separated by electrophoresis and stained for visibility. Students were to determine the sizes of each DNA fragment formed.
